The quality of the product remains constant during drying and the particles are almost spherical and often hollow, which leads to a reduction in the bulk density of the product. Recently, spray drying has been considered for encapsulation of pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs in various carriers. This method can also be used to produce pure medicinal powders.
