Spray Dryer is one of the most commonly used Drying Equipment for drying liquid materials. Liquid materials can be solution, slurry, suspension, etc.
The finished product dried by Centrifugal Spray Dryer is fine powder, while the finished product dried by pressure Spray dryer has larger particle size, better instant solubility and fluidity.
In the new energy industry, centrifugal spray dryer is usually used to dry battery materials, such as lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganese iron phosphate and graphene.
Spray Drying Machine is also widely used in pharmaceutical, food, chemical, ceramics, environmental protection and other industries.
The objective of the spray drying process is to dry the milled powder slurry in a continuous process and create granulated powder of desired quality. Some of the basic quality requirements for granulated powder include flow, bulk density, granule shape and size distribution, granule density, etc. within specified limits. These properties determine the process control achievable in subsequent powder consolidation processes.
Spray drying process involves pumping the powder/solvent slurry through a nozzle to aerate and create a spray of the slurry in a counter or cocurrent flow of hot gases, such that droplets of the slurry are dried in flight before falling to the bottom of the vessel. It is critical to maintain slurry uniformity from the time slurry is discharged from the mill to the time it is actually sprayed. This is done by maintaining the slurry in a state of constant agitation in a feed tank prior to spraying. Often wax or other additives may be added to the slurry prior to spraying, thus slurry in the feed tank must be kept in constant agitation to mix the ingredients and avoid any sedimentation or separation of different ingredients of the powder. The slurry is pumped into the nozzle using a pump or pressurization of the feed tank.
